Premium Hospitality
Near Heraklion, Crete, just 14 km from the city center, in the village of Archanes, is the traditional apartment complex “Troullos”. In particular, they are located in the area of Turkogeitonia where excavations revealed very interesting ruins of the Minoan period and where it is speculated that the kings of Knossos had their summer accommodation. These are 3 traditional houses, divided into apartments, dating back to 1871, as evidenced by the spilled pencil on the main door. These houses were completely restored in 2004, with respect to the local aesthetics and tradition and in order to give visitors the opportunity to get to know a piece of Cretan cultural color. Accommodation in our places is the best choice for winter or summer excursions and for lovers of traditional hospitality and nature.
Heart of Civilization
Archanes is a town with rich archaeological and architectural heritage, since it has been inhabited for 5,000 years. It is located 10 km south of Knossos and has great archaeological interest as ancient Acharna was a great Minoan city that flourished between 2500 and 1400 BC. The mountain of Yukhtas, which shadows Archanes, the sacred mountain of the Minoans, is the most important of the wider area, not only for its location and design reminiscent of a human head but also for the discovery of 4 sanctuaries. Myths and legends want the tomb of Zeus to be located there, from which the sacred mountain took its name (Jupiter). Today Archanes is a beautiful town, in a fertile area, with many waters, rich greenery and extensive vineyards, known for its excellent wine.
The settlement of Archanes is also of great architectural interest due to the preservation of the traditional, authentic architectural physiognomy of both public and private buildings. More than 200 traditional buildings have already been preserved and restored, such as the Old Primary School at the entrance of the village, the City Hall, the Agora as a whole. An ideal sanctuary for relaxation, meditation, study and knowledge of the wider area of Archanes with its antiquities and natural beauties.
